Helena Silman Cohen

Bio: Helena Silman Cohen, PT, DPT, brings over 20 years of clinical expertise to the field of physical therapy. At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she served as the lead therapist at the Breast and Imaging Center (BAIC). Upon returning to Israel in 2018, she co-founded the country’s first oncology physical therapy course and initiated the oncology PT subgroup within the Israeli PT Society (IPTS). She has also been instrumental in the effort to affiliate with IPT-HOPE. Helena is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical role of rehabilitation in oncology. Her efforts encompass delivering lectures and courses to both healthcare professionals and patients, and collaborating with a team of PTs on research to develop updated guidelines for patients undergoing breast cancer surgery. She played a key role in organizing a seminar focused on promoting pelvic floor rehabilitation in oncology and is actively involved in a project with the Israeli Lung Cancer Foundation (ILCF). Helena also provides oncology PT courses internationally and officially joined IPT-HOPE in December 2022.
